Just as each state in the US has their laws about firearms, so does each country of Europe.

If you are planning a trip to Europe, go.
But do not take your firearm.

To get a concealed weapons permit is next to impossible. To import a firearm is expensive. And you do not want to get caught smuggling one in.

So what do you do? Rely on other things for self defense. Try not to look like an American tourist.

I live in Germany. Europe is a socialist union with very strict weapons regulations. I have a hunting license, but need permission and paperwork for another country to hunt there. I also use to compete throughout Europe. I have taken pistols, shotguns, "assault rifles" and bolt actions to various countries in Eastern and Western Europe. I keep them locked up until the hunt or tournament-which is required. I have carried in certain Eastern countries in the early 90s, but I would check. If you are asking to carry a firearm while a tourist or on business, you will get a no. I would not take the chance. Some European countries have some scary jails and legal systems. Another route is to hire security from the country you are visiting. They will have bodyguards with a license to carry. Good luck.
