I have never hunted before and I don't know if I'd be any good at it but I am going to begin hog hunting so I can make my own bacon and I will sell it on the black market if necessary. Let's see, I a .22 pistol, a .380 pocket gun and a .357 magnum revolver. I don't think any of those are good for hunting hogs. Hmmmmm ..........

If you can make the shot a hot 357 fmj to the brain would kill it at 80-100 yards.
To be safe i would stick at 50-60 yard body shots with a slower expanding ammo. Why? So the round penetrates the hogs thick skin and then expands, destroying the vitals.

The thing is I don't think I'm that good a shot and I have a terrible fear of wounding an animal then not being able to find it. It would not be a good situation for me.

If you really aren't comfortably using the 357 do you have any centerfire rifles or shotguns?
