I was homeschooled and got preached these. If I failed my ass was in trouble because I had to start the chapter over and some extra chores were added. If I talked like I knew it all dad would just try to show me how a jet engine worked, which showed me, "hey stupid, learning doesn't stop at age 18 (high school), adults have 20 years or more of street smarts and book smarts, so you are like itty bitty on the knowledge meter."
My parents were amazing in teaching me values and lessons. I am still trying to pick apart what they want me to learn, because they expect me to be smart enough to learn about something in-directly. Really and truly, it is very helpful in helping me read peoples body languages.
I wish everyone had parents like mine, because they were both hard and loving. The world would be better off with more Darlene and Nick Bakers.
