Default A Dr's View of Gunshot Wounds

CAUTION - GRAPHIC IMAGES - NOT KIDDING

Not sure if this had been posted before, but it is interesting to see the comparison of calibers in real life GSWs (including a LEO that accidently shot himself), as well as ballistic gel.

Rifle rounds first
Handgun rounds at 10:30

23:00 he goes into trauma care and surgery - no more gun stuff unless you're interested in medicine and surgery.

Actually, this is one thirty minute video I'm going to sit through. Things like this interest me. I don't have time right now as I'm with my granddaughter but I will be watching it in the next couple days.

I watched it last night. Mainly talked about wound channels and was explaining the ballistics of primary rounds. Such as 7.62x39 and x51, 5.56 rounds in rifles then the ballistics of 9mm 40 s&w, and 45acp.

Showed a couple videos of ballistics gel being shot, explained why gunshots kill, talked about temporary wound channels.

Had a few images of people that had been shot with rifles and some ex rays of handgun caliber injuries, as well as a short video of a man being shot with a 9mm. Explained that being shot with a 9mm the force is equal to 10lbs being dropped on you from .76 inches IIRC.

Informative and a couple grisly pictures. Good video, but all info was from 2008.

There is a short summary.

Did you mean 76 inches or 3/4 of an inch?

I'm not a doctor. I just play one on the Internet.

This appears to be a presentation to EMS providers on GSWs. I found the ballistics discussion interesting and thought others might as well. The JHP x-rays were a bit surprising though. Need to whip up some gel and do some penetration tests with clothes covering it.
