Default Dont miss the transit of venus Tue 6-3-2012

Dont miss this transit of Venus across the Sun on Tuesday 6/5/2012. (fixed)

You can watch it by using a white pad of paper, and a set of binoculars.

Put the pad of paper on the ground, hold the binoculars over the paper and point them at the Sun.

Wear sunglasses as well, because the image of the Sun's disk will still be very bright on the paper.

You should see a spot the size of a pea moving across the Sun's image on the paper.

There's an advantage to the bino's that they enlarge the image for you on the paper.

The shadow of Venus is at the bottom of the Sun (as seen from the USA) right now, 3:35 pm PDST / 6:35 pm ADST.

The next one will be in December 2117.

That's 105 years from now.

None of us will be alive then.
