"One day at a time..."

For me it was "I am not a smoker." And haven't been for a coupla decades (the odd cigar or pipe doesn't count in my book). It's a little harder when you also need the things you are trying not to over-do it with.

Everything in moderation I just wrote somewhere else.

You are allowed to fail, just not allowed to stop trying. And there's no reason to fail alone. Not these days. Not any more.

Default It's Never too Late

Dango,

For me, it was August 6, 1976. I came to the end of myself - had tried it all - and acknowledged the hand of God's Messiah that reached to me. I took hold of Him who chose to reach for me - I've never let go. I am free.

I have in my backyard a large rock with the word "Ebenezer" (thus far has the LORD has helped me) painted on it. In this life, it's never too late to grasp the extended hand of God.

I want either less corruption or more opportunity to participate in it.

Dango - I happen to know someone that had a legit medical issue, started out on the simple stuff, and ended up on the legal form of the bad stuff on the street. Pain just kept getting worse. Turns out they had opioid induced hyperalgesia - the pain meds were causing the nerves to inflame rather than block it. A month at Cleveland Clinic pain clinic detox and they're free and clear of 90% of the pain they thought they had. Brain is a little bit swiss cheese from all the opioids though.

Point is - they only mask the pain - they don't fix it. Need to find other, non-toxic (ie. not alcohol either) ways to work through it. AA, NA - both good places to start. Find a group that understands - if you don't like one, find another - like us! But closer to home in person would be better - there's some weird characters on this forum.

Keep fightn'!!!

Dango, I have been watching my mom and her side of the family kill themselves with prescription meds for years and it hasn't been much fun.

I wish you nothing but the best and say you can do it.
