Fmj, I'm exactly the same way. I'll have a friend's hard headed mutt who has over $1000 worth of obedience training that didn't take, responding to silent discrete hand signals within minutes.

I don't think its a smell thing, I think its all attitude. That's what our most famous illegal immigrant dog trainer says too!

Dogs can sense our emotions... If you love animals and love being around them they can sense it, if we dont feel good or are sad they can sense it and will console you,and if we are pissed off they can sense it and tend to leave you be for a while, and if you are just an A-hole that doesnt like animals or just a troll ,they can sense that too and they will either not wanna be around or try and eat your @ss when they see you....
