i care.
because it serves as a reminder that power and the lust for money corrupts.

if it can happen to someone as talented as him, it obviously can happen to someone small like me.

i enjoy baseball, but im not willing to do what he did to enjoy it.

Who is he? Is he a good baseball player? A-rod? Sounds like something prisoners use to rape each other in prison.

I think it is disgusting that we pay athletes huge amounts of money for throwing a ball or swinging a bat, while the wives of our soldiers, policemen and firemen have to get a job to make ends meet. There is something drastically wrong with that.

No offense to all the women in those rolls. I appreciate all that you do. There should be no hirer paying job than someone who risks their life for the benefit of another!

Alex Rodriguez...19 year Major League Baseball veteran...

He was at one time, in the conversation for the best player of all time...

He has talent 99.99% of ball players could only dream of...

IMHO, he is a big part of the reason other players tried to gain an advantage by using illegal substances, just to try to measure up to his natural talent...

He got greedy and tried to improve on near perfection...by cheating...

He let his gigantic ego get the better of him, along with his gigantic paychecks and all the attention anyone could handle...

He defiled the purest of team sports even further, at the alleged end of an era to forever to be known as "the steroid era", just when baseball was starting to gain some of it's prestige back...

Roids is an international problem that spans many sports. What a let down when you find out your hero is not what you thought they were. Also makes you question how bad it is in your favorite sport. Look at the damage Lance Armstrong did to the sport and international credibility of US athletics.

Yup, zzzactly, was thinking of Lance as I read your post...7 Tour de France's down the crapper, and to make matters worse, he frickin' lied about it...

Hell, look at the NFL from the 1970's to the 1990's, players flat out died from juicing (see Lyle Alzado) and it continues to this day with players getting suspended for illegal substances, and to make matters worse, not just the 'roids...

I think most fans use the ostrich syndrome...if you don't look at it, it's not there...when it comes to their teams and its' not getting any better...really makes me sick.

My hero's didnt need roids to be hero's, just courage and discipline, these folks show neither of those. That said, Sporties are not my hero's, never have been, never will be. If they want to cheat, I really dont care I just hope the press gets the whole picture and lets everyone know about how it turns out for them. Burning out on roids is a pretty biologically destructive process and the before and after pics should be enough to discourage others from trying them.

There are heroes and there are idols.

An idol may not be a hero, but a hero should be an idol.
