Default Doctors vs Gun Owners

Doctors:

A: The number of physicians in the U.S. is: 700,000
B: Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year is: 120,000
C: Accidental deaths per Physician is o.171

(Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.)

Now think about this:

Guns:

A: The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
(yes, that's 80 million)
B: The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500
C: The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is: .000188

(Statistics courtesy of the F.B.I.

So statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners!

Remember, "Guns don;t kill people, doctors do!"

Fact: Not everyone has a gun but almost everyone has a doctor.

We must BAN doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!

Out of concern for the public at large, this information must be withheld from lawyers for fear the shock may cause people to panic and seek medical attention..

My civic duty for the day is complete

They shouldn't ban doctors, just make you get a very expensive policy to go see them, and also make a mandatory 6 month waiting period. Oh wait, Obama is trying to do that right now!

I have seen that post many times...it is old.

Anyways, anti gun studies that for instance tell how many children are killed each year by guns are horribly slanted and include outrageous data meant to make the stats reach a forgone conclusion.

Same with the accidental death by doctor...the studies are slanted.

I love the CDC's statistics about "children" killed by firearms each year. They just forget to tell you that the "children" are under the age of 26! I'm sorry, but a 25 year old man is NOT a child by any stretch of the imagination.

They also fail to point out that Justified Homicide numbers are included in the stat. So if little johnny gang banger (25 yoa) gets shot up by the Po Po in a running gun battle, then that is a child firearm death...WTF?

Will someone please tell me why the Centers for Disease Control has their fingers in our 2nd Ammendment? Since when are firearms considered "Diseases" that should be controlled? Sounds like a shameless power grab and unlawful infringement of our rights.

Do they compile the same type stats for people killed in traffic collisions?

I'm sure they do somewhere. I just put this out because it was relative to us. I've seen shows that have doctors complianing about all the folks they have to treat in the ER from gunshot wounds and how the world would be better without guns. However, I thought it was particularly interesting to find out that doctors kill more folks than guns do.

Funny this topic on docs-guns should come up. My doctor has written into my clinical notes "Not to be allowed to own a firearm". He's fine with me using club guns, but not to purchase

And BEFORE anyone jumps to the (perhaps for long-standing members here!) inevitable conclusion about my sanity I was [understandably] a bit offended by this and he explained that it wasn't due to any inherent concerns about me, but that he "Didn't want any more guns in circulation within society" ROFL

Which is a pretty John-Howardesque take on the situation. Unfortunately very widespread among the general population in Australia.

In the USA, that would be good grounds for a law suit. Defimation, Malpractice, Libel.
