I can remember when the only Hillary in the news was a brave and determined man that, along with his Sherpa guide, climbed Mt. Everest for the first time.

When McDonalds didn't serve breakfast.

Party-lines. And someone else down the road didn't get the phone hung-up and you couldn't use the phone.

When you opened the hood of the car and actually found an engine that you could work on.

There was a smoking section on the airplane.

Y'all making me feel old, and I'm not even a third the age of some of you!

Ahh, the benefits of growing up in rural deep south.

So far c3 is the only one who's posted stuff I didn't both experience myself, or have no knowledge of. I remember an easy 3/4 of most of this from my own childhood, and I just turned 29 a week ago.

When Keds, Converse & P.F. Flyers were your only sneaker choices, and you had your choice of two whole colors - black or white?

You actually knew the people at the register of the 5 & 10, shoe store, hardware store, 7-11, and on and on, and they were your neighbors and you went to school with their kids?

There was no pizza delivery?

School fights were settled with fists, after school?

I remember when
-rich folks were the only ones to buy disposable diapers, now they pay extra for ones they can reuse-
-you could go to a bigtime rock concert for $5.00
-50 cents worth of gas made my mini bike go all day
-a 12 year old kid worked harder to earn $5.00 on a farm than an adult does to earn $100 today
-everyoneput their hand over their heart or saluted when they heard the Star Spangled Banner or Pledge of Allegiance
-Every adult was either called Mr, Mrs unless they were relatives,
-Gun Safety was a way of life, not a law

do you remember when..........

the younger generation had respect for their elders?

when parents would and could discipline their children, even in public?

children were suppose to be seen and heard, and didn't enter adult conversations until asked?
