At Disney World yesterday
 
My wife and I have been staying away from the cold for the past week. Unfortunately we're heading home tomorrow.

So we head to Disney yesterday and covered Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom later (after his highness left).

In both locations there were several security guards checking people's bags. She and I were not carrying any bags, so we walked past security into the parks.

Now I was wearing a vest and had my 380 in my pocket and another magazine in the vest pocket. I could have easily been carrying much, much more. There is nothing posted about firearms in the park, so I didn't worry about it.

So what are these security guards looking for?

Disney is obviously following the TSA's example of security. Security isn't the priority, they just want to have the appearance of security.

There policy is no firearms in park or on property at all.

Maybe glass or beer! Then again they might be looking for a kid hidden in the cooler that didn't pay.

I assume this was in Florida. I don't think there's an Animal Kingdom park in California, and if you were carrying concealed in Cali, you were probably not legal before you got to Disney.

In Florida, there are no state guidelines for no-firearms signs. The signs have no legal weight. If your firearm is discovered, a property owner can tell you to leave. If you refuse, you are trespassing, and since you're armed, it's armed trespass.

If Disney finds that you have a gun, they'll escort you to the security office, where you can lock it in a locker and keep the key with you. You can also request this without getting "caught" first. Then you notify someone at the customer service desk when you want to leave, and they'll escort you to retrieve your pistol and on to the gate.

As to searching the bags, I think they're looking for Wile E. Coyote bombs.

But do they have to post it? How do they expect you to know if they dont post it?

That is the point I was trying to make. But, I guess as a responsible gun owner, you would check the website for such a policy.
