A few red wines, and a forgettable white I had with some pan seared scallops.

Ok lets run this out for a couple of days. Tonight I'm fixin hot chicken wings. Probably fry some cheese sticks for appetizers and have some celery and carrot sticks with Blue Cheese dressing for dipping.

I don't know what we're doing tomorrow so in case we decide to go out somewhere I'm putting together a crockpot of chili today too and will put it in the refrigerator and then will just have to turn it on in the morning. Btw should chili have beans or not? Mine does but then I also put sliced mushrooms in it too.

Christmas day there will just be me and the wife here but we still plan on eating good. So far the menu includes a standing rib roast with gorgonzola sauce, twice baked potatoes, brussels sprouts, stuffed mushrooms and cherry spice cake plus sweet ice tea.

After dinner a bottle of two buck chuck wine from Traider Joe's.

Anyone have a good recipe for Egg Nog?

Since I go back to work tomorrow and working through Christmas, today I'm making a stuffed pork roast (Apple/cranberry), peppered pecorino romano cheese, vinegar marinated cherry tomatoes, and shrimp dip. All to take to work Christmas day.

I'm sorry you have to work Christmas but I know the feeling. When I went to work for the Power Company it was 12 years before I was off on Christmas and I wasn't off for many after that either. Thank you and everyone else that sacrifices time with their families on these special days to keep this country humming along. Merry Christmas.

Here's the stuffed pork roast, ready for the oven.
The tomatoes in vinegar, sugar, cloves, and bay leaf.
The pecorino romano chunks in olive oil, lemon zest, and cracked blk. pepper.
Thanks String. My kids are grown with their own families and live back east. Ive pretty much refused to travel around holidays for about 20 years now. I don't mind working Thanksgiving and Christmas if it will allow the younger guys to be home with their kids.
Merry Christmas to you, too!

I made X-Mas dinner this year. Told my wife to take a break. She didn't like the idea but turned me loose. i cook all the time but she loves cooking during the holidays though. She was feeling a little under the weather though so that helped. The kids and grandkids ate the snack platter before i could get the camera out. Plus I forgot the camera and they all the apple pie. LOL

We did pretty good at work. Besides the stuff I took in, we had
a cola spiral ham
Crock pot corn bread dressing
Green beans
Mashed potatoes
Rolls
Chocolate, fudge, Chess, strawberry, and pecan pies. Cheesecake. Cookies, regular fudge, and banana pudding.
I know I'm forgetting some things but you get the idea.
There were a bunch of fat ****s rolling around not getting a whole lot done after dinner.

Tonight I am eating a roasted duckling that we shot and drowned in a marinade yesterday.

Left overs from yesterday's holiday meal. A mug+ full of my Minestrone soup, with some oyster crackers. Trying to"burn" out this sore throat/Sinus cold...
