This is a semi hijack, 'cause I'm talking about lunch here.

Yesterday, my wife was transferred from our regional hospital to Jefferson Mem. in downtown Philly. She had a T.I.A. or two Sun./Mon., thank God, only T.I.A.s! She should be good to go, after some treatment with meds. only.

Prayers and prayers of thanks appreciated.

Back on topic, Jeff. Mem. is only about 8 blocks from the BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD to get a sandwich, The Reading Terminal Market (RTM)!

The roast pork or roast beef, hot & wet, with sharp provolone, sautéed baby spinach or broccoli rabe & house roasted peppers, from Tommy DiNic's, is my very favorite sandwich on God's marble. Just across the aisle way is Herschel's East Side Deli, where they hand carve their own corned beef, pastrami, brisket & turkey breast for huge sandwiches.

The RTM is almost an entire city block under roof with every food/cuisine you can imagine!

I'll smuggle some goodies into my wife, like the best cookies I've ever had from 4th St. Cookie Co., maybe a hot slice from By George Pizza, or anything she asks for, it's there!

A lot of things are just better when cooked in a regular oven rather than a microwave I admit but I have never went to sleep with something cooking in the microwave and over cooked it.

Step 2 of the beef burgundy complete. After marinating the beef & veggies for 24 hours, cooked up 3/4 lb. Cut up bacon, browned the marinated meat then the veggies, put it all back in the Dutch oven and put it in the oven for three hours.

Step 3 will be sauteeing the pearl onions and mushrooms, make the beurre manie to thicken it, add it to the pot, heat, stir, and serve.

Today is slow cooker day so at 4am when I get up I put a roast in the slow cooker some marinade, onions, new potatoes, baby carrots, and put that baby on low. Now when I get home I will have a nice juicy falling apart roast waiting on me.

My dinner tonight.
Beef Burgundy with rice and a side of pear and red onion gratin.
A nice fall meal.

the wife picked me up a WalMart deli pepperoni pizza for dinner. she got some fresh mushrooms to put on it as well. these are the pizzas that are uncooked and that are made fresh in the deli at Walmart. these are actually pretty good pizzas for the price.
