My best friend at work is a retired sergeant major. He was an airborne ranger before he became an instructor. Nice guy, really good hearted. I can't imagine him in combat; though he never saw any.

No offense and none taken

I once work with someone who was in the Marine Recon unit (Lurp?). He said the graduation exercise was a ten hour flight with a full pack flown from Washington State to Florida, jumping into a swamp, and finding your way out. He said they give you enough food for three weeks. The first week you eat all your food. The second week you starve. The third week you eat anything that moves.
"Sometimes I pretend to be normal, but it's boring and I go back to being me."
"You might as well be yourself, people won’t like you anyway."
