Navy's the best branch. Marines are a close second.

When I was in the Army I was supposed to be headed for Airborne training. But I was in a motorcycle accident that cut my career short. That is the first step in the Army. They wear a red beret. After Airborne training is complete a solder can move on to Ranger training. They wear a black beret. After Ranger is Special Forces. They are the green beret. All three are under the "Special Operations" umberella. At least that is the way I understood it back then. That was 26 years ago though.

Not sure about the other branches.

All I can say is that the Tree of life in America is stronger with all the branches of service intact. (Go Army)

You know that technically The Marines are just a major claimant within the Department of The Navy. 1 of about 25 Major Claimants.

The Coast Guard is also not part of DOD but Homeland Security.

Having served with but not among some Air Force Pararescue guys, I can say that what I have been told is that they train with all the sister services specialized teams quite a lot. When they went on missions in Afghanistan it was more common for the team to consist of members from multiple services unless they were performing a very specific task. For example if a rescue call came in the Air Force had first crack at the opportunity to take it because Pararescue is specialized at getting small groups out of harms way.
