Actually you can use a crossbow here in illinois after the first 2 gun seasons if you have archery tags, you will want to practice quite a bit with a bow, until you are comfortable hunting with it, I shoot all year a fire thousands of arrows to improve myself for the upcoming season, archery is my biggest passion even bigger than shooting guns.

Nope, new law they started this year, if you have archery permits after the 2nd shotgun season anyone can crossbow hunt.
