Many people have decent credit within 6 months of filing bankruptcy. A friend filed bankruptcy, it was the best thing that ever happened to him. He was so far under water he would have needed to rob fort knox to pay off everything he owed. The last thing he charged on a credit card before it was maxed out was a motel room. The credit card company called demanding he return his stay in the motel.
lots of people file bankruptcy simply to get out debt because they had poor spending practices of spending more than they could afford. simply put, living beyond their means and maxing out credit cards, and buying things they really couldn't afford just to impress others.
many people are not content to live within their means, and simply want more things.
