Odd at first this is a very large area and this was happen really fast !

Coyote we all thought at first! Wrong ! My neighbor and I were walking and talking about shooting on the up-coming week-end and that's when we saw it!

A humungous Great horn owl! a four and a half foot wing span at least , maybe a little bigger! It had a small animal in it's talons , looked like a cat.

Birds of prey and coyotes,we got both and witch one got my cat , just ain't sure? It's open season for coyotes , were zoned farming so it's legal! Can't shoot owls but coyotes don't cotton to my .45-70 much !
HOLY CRAP.I have several large owls living in the area infact I'm listening to one right now. I did not even consider this I have seen the coyotes out front see tuffs of fur where a fight obviously happened. I think my next step game cameras need to find out exactly what this is. It could be the yotes are innocent by standers!

Also I will try and put out a call try and get the more aggressive ones on to my land and take them out. Some nights when I can't sleep and I'm smokin a cig I will see them walking on the road together 100 feet from me with no fear maybe if some finally starts firing some shots at them things will change. Once again thanks for the info everyone.
If your calling them, your hunting them. Some states have a minimum size plot of land to hunt on. Make sure your legal, you dont wanna lose a gun or any rights.

I've lost a cat to a raccoon and a kitten to an owl. You really can't hear an owl when it's swooping down.

Dango so true. The Eagles hunt cats. Ranchers want cats that are dull brown colors around the barns and corrals. The big white cats are prime targets for the airborne killers.

Free running "Pit Bulls"? There has never been as many people killed by coyotes as those Damn drug dogs.

If you see them on your property blast them.

I use to have a bad coyote problem. But my pit bulls took care of that. My lab puppy loved to run and play in the yard. The pits would stay close to the house. One night I went to the door to call the dogs in. One of the pits was standing staring at the woods. I said what is it boy. He never took his eyes off the woods. My lab puppy was in the middle of the yard playing. About that time I saw a pack of them dang things come out the woods. Both the pits took of right for them. When they slammed into them it sounded like a car crash. By the time I got out there with a gun 3 were already dead. And both dogs were finishing one off. 2 were struggling to make it back to the woods. I took them out with the 12ga.

The dogs got a bath and slept in the bed that night.
