There's often an explanation that comes out later . For some reason people can't wait to pass judgement on the police . In the Diallo case, they said there was no excuse for police firing 49 shots at an unarmed man but the evidence got them acquitted . In the Rodney King case, the media showed the edited film over and over but the jury saw the whole film and acquitted the cops . O.J. Simpson's supporters were eager to believe that he'd been framed and made fools of themselves even though he was acquitted .
In WWII's ETO, heavy bombers assigned to carpet bomb ahead of our advancing troops accidentally bombed our troops with heavy casualties . American planes were shot down by American gunners at Pearl Harbor after the Japanese attackers had left . Stonewall Jackson was shot by his own men who mistook him for a Yankee . Mistakes happen .
Hunters often see what they hope to see instead of what is there .
Is the shooting of the two women excusable ? Maybe . Let's wait for all of the facts . Right now we have a more pressing problem to worry about : whether armed citizens can assist the police in this case . We have an anti-gun zealot killing police officers ( You can't make this stuff up ) .

Sure we can.
The Sheriff says "Raise your right hand and repeat after me..."
The responding Citizens do so.
Then the Sheriff says, "You have been deputized. Follow me."
It used to happen all the time back when anybody could own a machinegun.

I think you are going to see more of these cases where police attack their own. The Postal Service had such a rash of internal mass killings we coined a word for it. Going "Postal"!!
Very large unresponsive government management can not and will not accept failure. They ignore low level discontent until it goes into crisis mode.

and more and more those two concepts are not meshing
30+ rds into the back of the wrong vehicle with 2 occupants and not 1 suspect? Like I said, if those LEO were close enough to be firing than they were close enough to know what they were looking at
If not they should be relieved immediately and put under serious scrutiny for their actions at the very least!

Oh I'm not expecting perfection ... but I would think that a license plate check ... knowing what vehicle the suspect owned ... knowing the difference between a large black man and 2 small Hispanic women was ... maybe the daily routines of the neighborhoods they are operating in ... maybe NOT shooting up the back of a moving vehicle in a residential neighborhood ...
you know ... just the OBVIOUS details!
But hey, lets give them a pass ... their stressed ... and they have a tough job Maybe this guy Dorner is right ... maybe the LAPD does need some serious outside oversight and overhaul
