Default Cop loses perp when he stops for drive-thru

They did recapture the guy, but seriously?

While in line, Zukoski used a hand-cuff key to get out of his cuffs. He then left the car and ran away. Deputy Kadel ran after Zukoski but couldn't catch him. He then returned to his car, which was still in the drive-thru line, and picked up his food order.

Zukoski was apprehended a short time later. Kadel never notified his supervisors that he was planning a stop for food.
Too many quarter pounders?

This was obviously not your "normal" criminal if he had a handcuff key that was hidden and ready for use.

I would put forth that if he did not use said key in the drive thru, he would have used it elsewhere along the way.

Having said that, I think the cops' resignation says enough about the situation.

Iím kind of confused on something. The picture shown in the article shows what looks to be a normal police cruiser and all of ours are set where the subject in question canít open the back door and get out just for this kind of situation.
