Any time my Dad argued with me about spending my own money I reminded him that I worked hard for it and I understand what it will take to earn it back and that I'd already taken care of whatever bills I had to pay first. His advice was always make sure it's what you really want, don't ever give up what you really want for what you want right now. My Dad is a smart man.
