Default Conversation with local police

Had to go help a friend that was in a car accident earlier this week. Due to delays in arranging a tow, we had quite a bit of time to stand around and talk with the officer on the scene.

I asked him what he and the department thought about the gun-control debate. He got a hesitant look on his face and said "do you want the official stance, or our real opinions".

My friend immediately said "both".

The officer's response, "well, the official department opinion is we have no opinion. But my opinion is I didn't spend two and half years fighting in Afghanistan to come home and watch some politician shred the Constitution."

His other comments intimated that was the common opinion in the department.

I think the cops know that more guns in our hands=less crime, less work for them. If they take our guns, the criminals will still have them. They don't want more dangerous work for them.
