Great post! We don't see war in this rawness anymore. Maybe that's what the douchtastic war protesters need to see, or better yet, experience!
There seams to be a preponderance of Confederate dead in those photos. Biased media?
And I didn't know Andy Sipowicz was in the Civil War; (Here's your war, right here!) __________________ .

Powerful photographs, especialy of the dead soldiers. A strong reminder of how horrific war can be. The American Civil War was an exceptional tragedy. __________________ TXnorton |

A lot of people don't know that from DC to Richmond there were not a single tree left during the war because they were using the lumber for anything and everything they could. They were burning it to stay warm in the winter, Building small out buildings to live in. This area of the country looked like Scorched earth. |

Incredible photos, gork...thanks for sharing them.
It's completely inconceivable to me what it would be like for a country to suffer that most terrible, bloody and gut-wrenching event, a Civil War. A national wound that severe has to run deep __________________ Illigitimi Non Carborundum - Don't let the bastards grind you down

Does this subject remind anyone else of current events and the hope that it doesn't happen again? __________________ If the pain is lacking so is the discipline...

Thanks for sharing, what a find. Great chronicle of a horrible time in our nation's history.
And, as an amateur photographer, I'm still amazed at how black and white photographs can capture so much more than color, IMO. |
