Crazy chicken lady has 16 pullets in our spare bedroom {sigh}. Coop's all built, and it only has two doors They should be outside in another week with some supplemental heat. 6 are leaving us Friday for their new home. Another four will probably go early next week.

WE have a bunch of chickens. Enough to have eggs for four families and some to sell off if the mood strikes us. We average a little over two dozen eggs a day.
I couldn't imagine eating an egg form a store anymore. I didn't rad every post so if this was mentioned sorry. The website Murry McMurry Hatchery has all things fowl. We've bought chicks form them and had great luck with them. They even have a web forum and a blog for any questions you might have. Kind of a one stop shop for all things fowl.

I was gonna get a coop myself, but our neighbor is in process of getting a dozen or so chickens and offered to give us eggs as we want...so I am holding off - if he doesnt get em soon, I will build my own coop and get it going...

I've had a flock of them myself.. They were very cool eggs. They weren't as efficient as some other breads but tasted just as good.. Very sweet and hearty birds. Ours were mostly blue ish... But some came out very green.

Chickens are boring creatures. Why not raise Easter Bunnies. Chocolate and colored eggs. Easter Bunnies are simply more fun than a chicken. And you don't need a noisy rooster

Araucanas- aka South American Rumpless? Uncle used to raise them. Look a bit strange, nice birds, tho.

Americana's are the chickens I have. They lay brown or green eggs.
I have one of each.
