I am quite a bit younger than your Mom. I think I am waaaay to young for needing cataract surgery. But I know my vision is quite impaired in my left eye. I am hoping for 20/20 after the surgery.

Only thing bad is, since my Glasses were redone last year, the one time since that I had one of my Springfields out to make sure it had not lost zero the Chipmunk at 800 yds was waving at me And sticking out his tongue!! I said Darn I need better binoculars or a less powerful Scope!!!

I had both eyes done when I was 57. Chances are you have 20/20 or better. If the problem is just the lens, implants will fix everything. If you also have corneal issues, like corneal astigmatism or corneal cataracts, then a corneal transplant might also be needed.
If glaucoma is present, that needs to be corrected before surgery.
