Besides being restricted to a RCMP approved range you must have a transport permit. Handguns can not even be taken for repair without a transport permit. Where would you find an approved firing range for a "Machine Gun"? A Class 3 permit holder in the U.S. can carry a FA and fire it where ever shooting is legal.

......cost wise, we still win. I never once said anything about fun level. Haha
