With a cast iron skillet and Dutch oven, fajitas, shepherds pie, biscuits, apple crisp, skillet breakfast of hash browns, sausage and eggs, and there's always room for chili, hotdogs or brats.

My favorite camping is on the islands of Lake Ouachita in Arkansas...load my bass boat up with hot dogs, beans, corn beef hash, potatoes and spam for bait...fish, catch catfish and hopefully a Walleye and viola shore lunch.

Coffee in the morning, beer in the evening and a nice campfire with nobody and I mean nobody around...it is an island in the middle of a huge lake!

I am moving from Arkansas and my son is graduating this year...I will miss it to be certain.

Camping food? I thought you just brought eggs, flour, milk and lard to the camping site. Oh, I forgot, have to have some wieners and marshmallows for the kids. The rest of the food you caught or killed it while you were there. If you didn't find anything to eat you bought a pig from a nearby farmer.

I agree some of this stuff looks too fancy for camping.

Then again we didn't even bring a tent half the time. We brought string and a pocket knife.

Equipment needed: Extra layer of clothing, string, pocket knife, waterproof matches, dryer lint, crackers, Dutch oven, aluminum foil and dads old marlin .22

Oh and a can of Tony Chachere's.

The boys wouldn't be home for days at a time. If we were it was for one of the moms to cook us a real breakfast and then we were gone again.

I used to go hardcore like that. But now with older age, I'm cheating. I take an RV and cook anything. I spent enough time living in the dirt like a caveman in Afghanistan and Iraq. As far as killing.... Well I'm in SoCal, can't hunt for S**T here, maybe catch some fish if I go up north. My old lady has everything under the sun in the rig. I'm done roughing it. I still like to cook on a campfire, I leave the kitchen gourmet crap to her. I'll take a queen size bed over getting eaten by ants and Mosquitos any day. Plus I can fit my arsenal under the bed storage.
