It's pretty much in full swing. Distributors are running dry on guns, ammo, and reloading components. JSE Surplus is local to me and they have raised their prices on essential parts like lowers, uppers, BCGs, etc. they say they are selling 135 milspec BCGs a week and can't keep up with filling backorders, much less build an inventory.

I went into the sporting goods section of our local Walmart twice this weekend. No one was waiting for ammo. There were AR-15's in the display case. It appears in this area everyone bought what they were going to buy on the weekend after Thanksgiving. In fact, guns I am interested in buying the price dropped $15. I am interested in a 22 wmr bolt action with a decent set of iron sights.

I may buy some more AR mags (30 rounders) and some more 5.56 but for now I've got all I think I need.

It's going to be interesting to see what transpires in the months ahead, and what effect it will have on our 2nd Amendment rights. I hope whatever is decided will not infringe on our rights to own handguns, shotguns, and rifles.

Just walked into JSE Surplus and the place was a madhouse. One of the guys said I had no idea how crazy its been. I bought some Pmags and noticed a familiar tag on the counter. It was from a gun I'd been lusting over for a long time. The tag said SCAR Heavy .308 $2900. I looked around and it was gone! The guy said they sold two SCAR .308s within minutes of each other, both for $2900. Those two guns have been out there for at least a year. What are the odds that two $3000 guns sell within minutes of each other today?

I am not seeing any panic buying in my area. All the items that I ordered on Black Friday weekend that got back ordered have been delivered at the Black Friday price. I ordered everything from vendors that I have been doing business with for over 20 years. Their stock is building as quickly as distributors can get the goods in their warehouse. Just last weekend (12/8) I ordered a case of 9 mm ammo. We all know that ammo is delivered on the ground. I received the ammo Friday.
I really have my doubts about all the talk of panic buying and short supplies. In NC we have a large population of gun owners. We have a large number of organized clubs. In turn, we have a lot of organized buying. No one is complaining of difficulty in receiving their orders, even clubs that are large enough to order from top level distributors.

I've got a question for the older members since I don't remember the last "AWB".
Was there this much hype about the last one? I vaguely remember the end of the last one since I was born in '84.
Will a new AWB expire like the old one did?
