Most stories are saying "a guard was shot in both legs"
This could be why, maybe.

Dc police and FBI are saying 3 weapons found on him, shotgun recently purchased in VA, 9mm handgun and an AR-15.

He was legitimately on base as an IT contractor as well.

This morning's paper said he's had previous runins with LE, including firearms violations. The police describe him as "seething with rage."

The press brief last night was completely uninformative, ambiguous and aimed only to introduce us to the next batch of talking heads that will be used to push ever harder to control our guns FOOG. I heard "Veteran goes on murderous rampage with an AR-15 Assault Weapon".

If it was an AR 15, it probably wasnt the guards, they likely have Issue Weapons and I dont think an AR-15 is issue. The type of weapon isnt really the Issue at all but it will be blamed for all the "REALLY BAD THINGS" that happened here. The second to get the blame will be "Mentally Unstable" Individuals, thats sounds good if you say it fast enough but that is all according to the person who is defining "Unstable" I suspect most of us could be classified as such according to who is given the power to judge us.

Quote:
Despite news media impressions to the contrary, there are not many murders in the United States that are committed with rifles or shotguns. Combined, it is under 1,000 per year---more people are murdered with knives. FBI data shows that most murders are done with handguns. Random killings are very rare, most are between people who know each or rival gang members. In other words, stay out of areas, such as parts of Rahamland, and your chance of being killed by a stranger is very, very slim. Further data to contemplate: In 32% of the murders in 2010, no firearm was used.

They play on the emotions when the statistics dont bear out in their favor!

The killer used his own pass to enter the Washington Naval Yard.

Quote:
Officials said Mr. Alexis drove a rental car to the base and entered using his access as a contractor and shot an officer and one other person outside Building 197, the Sea Systems Command headquarters. Inside, Mr. Alexis made his way to a floor overlooking an atrium and took aim at employees eating breakfast below.

IMO: This one will quickly die out. Al Sharpton and Jesse, Sr. will not weigh in on this murderous rampage. The media generally does not demonize murdering demons who are not white.

Yep, i said that.

It'll be used to attack gun rights though.
Still waiting to hear workplace violence.

LET THE PANIC BEGIN (...yet again)!!! I love how the media has said things like "He used an AR14 (???) in a civilian model that shoots 3 round burst" (Where can I get one of those??)..and how they are referring to this as a "massacre" instead of "shooting".. and how they (yet again.. part 2) STILL do not address the real underlying issues of mental health, ignoring the warning signs (this guy had at least 2 other gun related incidents in his past!!) and the 400lb gorilla in the room... GUN FREE ZONES !!

Personally.. I'm okay on ammo and mags for now... so I'm all set and I'll wait out any panic I need to (yet again... part 3). Still don't see anything (other than a panic buy... yet again.. part 4) happening as a result. We all know that there are MORE gun owners out there now than before that last panic and any new "feel good" knee-jerk legislation or laws (even on a state and/or local level) will meet with defeat and maybe even a recall election (THANK YOU COLORADO!!!)
Not worried. Just gonna wait it out like last time…. Although I do expect some empty shelves and price gouging…. It’s just the nature of the beast.
