I'm still working on it but I'm actually doing work to so only half focusing on it. The key is going to be creating the 65th block from edges of the other pieces. Example, if you can make a pattern save for the block in the center, then you have created the block in the center. Hence 64 blocks make 65.

Or so I think, dunno, I've tried all the logical ways I can think of.

Nevermind...i got it.

X= y*(y+1)
where y= previous number in sequence!!

Of course this is disingenuous because 0 is not included in the original sequence.
0 * (0+1)=1
1*(1+1)=2
2*(2+1)=6
6*(6+1)=42
46*(46+1)=1806
1806*(1806+1) = 3263442

May wanna check that.

0*1=0

46*47=2162

but,

42*43=1806

d'oh!

This is what I get for going too fast. Simplified, I believe that should be:

N=X*(X+1) {where X is the previous number in the series}
ergo:
1,
1*(2) = 2,
2*(3) = 6,
6*(7) = 42,
42*(43) = 1806,
1806*(1807) = 3263442

I guess we have to assume that the first number does not adhere to the formula...However, the progression is the same if we call it:

N=(X^2)+X {where X is the previous number in the series. Damn circular reference.}

as in any sequence, the first number acts as a start of the sequence. The sequence could have been started with any number, the number itself being undefined. It could even be a decimal.

I cheated and google'd the answer. Here's another hint, don't listen to my first post about how to solve it.
