The Road was good, but not as good as the book (are they ever?). I'm a big Viggo Mortensen fan.

The book was terrific and Cormac McCarthy, my favorite writer, won a Pulitzer Prize for it.

Default Book of eli spoiler alert----do not read if you want to watch the movie

**BOOK OF ELI SPOILER ALERT-------SPOILER ALERT!!!!!**

Okay, now that we've got that cleared up, I've got a question.

Eli was carrying the KJV Bible in braille. Does that mean he was blind? Because how in the hell did he do the things he did while blind? I mean, sniping a cat with a crossbow? Taking on an entire room of dudes while only armed with two bad-ass knives? Knowing the dude's finger was on the trigger at the 'junk' shop?

As for The Road, I say that is probably the most 'realistic' end-of-the-world movie I've ever seen. Hardly a bite to eat. Ammo just as scarce. Can't trust anyone. Definitely a good watch.

Yes Eli was blinded by the blast. Blind people gain a heightened sense of smell, taste and hearing as well as touch to replace the loss of sight. He shot the cat and the bird by listening. you will also note he didn't jump because of the dead guy in the door, he jumped because the door fell. Watch it again and it all makes sense.

The Road was filmed a lot in the dark. I had a hard time sitting through it, even though it seemed like a good story. I think I made it about an hour in and had to shut if off because so much of the movie takes place at night or in dark areas, it was difficult for me to follow along.

I can't offer an opinion either way as I didn't see the whole thing. maybe if you crank the brightness knob to 105% it might be entertaining.

I assumed Eli was guided by God, as well.

God can do stuff like that.

I agree, I got the same "Guided by God" vibe from the story telling.

Believe in the Power of the Almighty or not, the storytelling gave the aspect that in this realm, he was indeed an instrument. A well armed, well prepared vessel carrying the word where it would do the most good.

I liked the movie and thought if was very well done.

That's what I've heard....not seen, but heard.

I really enjoyed it when I watched it. The twist at the end was good, and I didn't see it coming, but it made sense.

I too agree with the power and guidance of God. For a guy whos died twice, that guy being me, and seen the light at the end of the tunnel I whole heartedly believe in his guidance. Oh and when the bright hand of God pushed me from the darkness and said its not time yet, yeah tha was wicked in a holy way. No I am not pulling anyone's leg here either. Will not go into details but it happened.

I really enjoyed The Book of Eli. I agree with the consensus that he was somewhat guided by the hand of God, at least that is what I thought the movie was implying. Any further reviews on The Road? Is it a must see?
