How can anyone except the dill weed Superfans root for the Blackhawks? The emblem should have been a boar's head. It looks like an overrated child went to work with all his color pencils. Look at the Detroit symbol. A pair of balls soaring on the wings of defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.
Yes I am sore. It's the Red Wings thing you don't understand.

Default A new season...

Above & beyond fan loyalty here... I have some questions... Can anyone tell me 1) why the individual divisions had to be re-aligned? 2) Did they just throw darts at the map to choose them? and 3) Am I the only one who still hates Bettman with an undying passion???

GO CANES!!!!

The only thing that makes any sense...sort of...is that they realigned to cut travel distances between conference opponents. If you asked me I think it's stupid. The Det/Chi rivalry is all but dead now, they'll play just 2 times a year...

The east coast is heavy with teams all within a 3 hour flight from the furthest point...say Toronto to Florida, but the west is too spread out for it to make any sense geographically. This is what happens when you over populate the league with teams. The talent pool gets diluted and old school rivalries fall by the wayside.

And no, you're not the only one, Bettman is a scourge to the NHL like Goodell is to the NFL...

Oops, almost forgot...

GO BRUINS!!!!!!

Rivalries ebb & flow all the time... Remember when the Wings and the Leafs were at it? Then the Wings and the Avalanche ???? THEN we had the Wings and the Hawks (who finally quit sucking...) ??? Obviously the Wings can't get along with anyone ....
The rivals that will probably suffer the most with this current re-shuffle will be the Pens and the Flyers (who are now in a rebuilding phase...again) and unless Philly can right the ship soon they won't has a post season to play their cross state enemies....
I guess logic doesn't enter in to it.

Anyhoo... at least we have a complete 82 game season this year. So thank God for someone getting back to work (Yes Federal Goberment... I'm looking your way when I say that!!)

Why don't you tell us about the grass roots of ice hockey in South Carolina?

You people should be naming your kids after Bettman and the like, for bringing the endless expansion teams to where the cactus grows.

Me, too. I've been a Blackhawks fan since the '70's.

First off... it's NORTH Carolina !!! The only "cactus" growing here you buy at the store and keep indoors in pots ...and Bettman had nothing to do with the Hurricanes coming here from Hartford (that's right... they were the Whalers previous to 97')... he simply rubber stamped the move (motivated by more $$$ in his pocket probably)...That was the owner (Peter Karmanos) who was looking to get out of an over-saturated hockey market into a place with a built in fan base. He came down to Raleigh... and went to an Icecaps game ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raleigh_IceCapsCHL ) that had a RABID following mostly due to the Northern transplants that came down during the business boom of the 80's & 90's. Previous to that team we had the Greensboro Monarchs ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greensboro_Monarchs ) and the Carolina Thunderbirds out of Winston Salem.... So this idea that we have never had hockey in the North Carolina.. OR the South in general before the 30 team NHL expansion is a LIE !!!!

But that's okay... Go ahead. Call us a bunch of "redneck, NASCAR watching, cousin dating, inbreed, SU-WEEEE!!" and underestimate the Canes.... It's our greatest strength!!

P.S. Correction to my earlier post... The Flyers ARE in the same division as the Pens... I didn't immediately notice it until looking it up because Philly is struggling and at the bottom.... for now. It's a looooonnnngggg season.

Canucks fan here. Always hoping this is the year. Hawks look good again ( hate the Hawks ) and better look out for the Sharks. They're playing great hockey.

GO CANUCKS GO
