Father thought it would be a good idea and fun to keep one live in a jar with very small holes in the top of the big glass jar. A few weeks went by of feeding it moths and small bugs and all. Next thing we noticed were like little beads, smaller than the tip of a pen, and there were lots and lots of them. Next thing that was realized was some of the "beads" were cracked or apart, some had fallen to the bottom of the jar and there were baby spiders. The baby spiders happened to be small enough to fit through the holes and definitely could not account for all the spiders counting the eggs. They lay tons and tons and tons of eggs. Baby black widows were in the house. Couldn't do much but it was just the thought of it that was scary. Feel something crawling on you at night and all of a sudden you thought it was a black widow. Wouldn't suggest keeping live spiders like this.
