Toyota, Honda, Subaru, and Nissan. In that order. If you want speed v6 Nissan. All wheel drive Subaru. Hands down reliability Toyota closely followed by Honda. Until I recently changed careers I was an ASE master mechanic.

I'll tell you a car that I don't think has been mentioned. I have owned several of the cars listed above, and the Chrysler 200 V6 Limited is the sleeper in the group. 286 hp, and a better car overall than say a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry (have owned more than one of both). We just got one of these for my wife and it's a great vehicle, with excellent gas mileage but lots of power through a smooth 6 speed. With current incentives this car is really hard to beat. Another car that I like recently in a rental car was the Chevy Malibu. This one was mentioned in the beginning of this thread. I wasn't expecting much but took it this weekend for about a 1000 mile trip. I couldn't live with the 4 cylinder (we're just used to much more power. I have the Chrysler 300 SRT8) but I'm sure the 6 cylinder would make a nice vehicle.
