The 3 or 4 that I would be looking at would be the following:

Volkswagen Jetta or Passat, depending on how much room you want. The Jetta I have now is a 2011. It is the first car I have had that I've thought I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. The handling is just as good as my previous car, BMW 330, and that is saying a lot. And it is far more reliable than the BMW was. The TDI engine has great power and better gas mileage.

The Ford Fusion is in my opinion the best looking car on the road today. I have yet to drive one, but Ford has been making some very good cars in the last few years, and their driver interface and layout is second to none.

The Nissan Altima was a favorite of mine when I was renting cars on a regular basis. At least for the driver, it feels larger than it is. It's very comfortable and well laid out.

As an aside, I really want to like the Kia and Hyundai's, but... We had a Kia Sorrento for several years and it was a fantastic little SUV. But their sedans just aren't that comfortable to me. They need to redesign their seats.

How in good conscience can you use Kia & Ford in the same sentence, you should be ashamed !.....................LOL

Take a look at the new Dodge Chargers. RG and i rented on for our last trip to Myrtle Beach. Roomy inside, sporty, great mileage for a big car.

Can't go wrong with a charger. Sporty, decent gas mileage, and lots of room in the back. Looking to buy a second one myself.

Have you driven a Kia in the last few years? Especially the Optima and Sportage, they are on par with any vehicle in the price range.

Hyundai and Kia are almost the same company as well, so the Sonata is the same frame as the Optima just slightly different interior and options.

And horrible suspension. Keep it for a little bit, guaranteed you will need work done on the front end

I know this is a compact car. My wife has a Honda Civic with a 225 HP engine in it. I have owned some hot rods in my lifetime but none of them even get close to the Civic. The best mid size car I have driven recently was a Toyota Camry with a five speed on the floor. That car was fun to drive and it had a lot of legroom.
