Best cheese for grilled cheese?
What is the best cheese for making grilled cheese sanswiches?

I prefer a good provolon.

Look at taste meltability and any other aspect you like..

Land O Lakes American sliced thin and layered 3 or 4 slices deep...butter the bread and grill on both sides till golden...heaven on a plate!

For some variety substitute a kaiser roll for the bread, flip it inside-out so the doughy middle is facing the heat and butter it like you would the bread then place it in a sandwich or panini grill...good stuff.

Actually, my Kraft cheese comment aside, I love good cheese. We got lucky when we moved here, there's a cheese shop three blocks from our house. The proprietor cuts all her stock for sampling and you can taste every cheese she sells. She also features different cheeses from different countries on a regular basis. She also sells regional cheeses that aren't generally available.

I just like american cheese for the gooeyness with some sharp cheddar grated on it for a little more bite. If it wasn't so hot here I would want tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich right now. MMM, MMM, good.
