I spent 10 days in Bavaria/Black Forest in 98. Every town we went through had their own small brewery. At dinner I used my best (and almost only) German "Weiss Bier Bitta". Silly servers always responded "Lowenbrau?". Hell no dambit! I want the Wheat Beer you make HERE! I collected the coasters for each beer. ALL of them were exceptional.

Then I got turned on to Kirschwasser. OMG! You don't drink that stuff. You put it in your mouth and it absorbs instantly!

My second night in Germany was spent in the E.M. club drinking my first taste of German beer.
I was used to drinking Mexican beer,
having come from WSPG-WSMR.
My first taste,
OH this is gooood, and smooth.
I wondered why the bottles were so small.
Well,
drank a bunch
somehow found the right bunk.
had to get up real early
grab my gear
and take a Long ride
in the back of a bouncing deuce & a half.
Was so sick I didn't have another beer,
well until I got my first pass.

Yes, many of the beers here are stronger than what I've seen back home. 5%, 7%, 12%.

I haven't had any hangovers here, but I only drink 1-2 drinks in any day I'm sampling. I also am still consuming a lot of water as I go. I found that water is also a key to heading off the dehydration that also drives hangovers.

I did indeed notice that the glass was etched in the area where the bubbles were forming.

All beer tastes better in a glass. It gets to breathe a little. When ever I order a beer at a restaurant and they ask me if I want a glass I say of course I want a glass, I'm not an animal.

Just remembered,
I used to stop in at this little place in K-Town,
They served a beer,
Best I can remember it was "Mannheimer" Was some years ago.
WOW, one bottle was enough..
