Bad Taste?

So I recently found out what a "hogs tooth" is, and i really want to make one and wear it. My only concern is that it appears to be a pretty big military accomplishment to get one, and i dont want to disrespect the people who really did earn it. Would it be bad or wrong for me to wear one?

Im sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but i dont want to upset the wrong people.

Maybe a different round would be OK?

I bet .223 would make a nice earring. :D

At the rate of the up-coming oppression, you may very well UN-questionably earn that!............;)

texaswoodworker 02-01-2013 08:43 PM

I wouldn't make one from 7.62 or any simular sized round out of respect to those who earned it. You could change the design though.

Some buckshot might make a lovely bracelet, throw in a big slug for a center piece...
:D

Friendly advice: I am a veteran of the "Nam" fiasco , nothing but lies. I have thrown all my metals away except for one! Sharp-shooters Bar! That one ,I proudly keep! :)

hey, got news for ya....people have been doing that for years before snipers did.
its a bullet around your neck.
enjoy it.

btw...i dont see a dent on the front from impact. it could be a fake.

TheSadPanda 02-01-2013 09:11 PM

So far from what i can tell it doesnt seem to be a big deal. I know people do already make and sell these, but im not trying to be a mall ninja that pretends to have been in the military. I already wear a 9mm around my neck everyday. Dont really have a reason. I just do. Maybe ill look into some other bullets, or maybe using a 308 round with a red or green tip since they dont use those in the military.

It's your bullet and string do what you want with them. it would only be bad if you lied about how you got it.

Hog's Tooth is the name given to the 7.62mm round presented to a United States Marine upon graduating from the Scout/Sniper school. A 7.62mm NATO round is used because that is the round fired by the M40A3, which is the primary rifle used by Marine snipers.

Doesn't your own link kinda answer your own question?????
