I've camped quite a bit in bear country and always slept with my S&W 629 next to my sleeping bag. If I lived in bear country(grizzly country) I would buy a 500 S&W in a heartbeat!

Having a couple of dogs is great for bear country. Their hearing and smell is so much better, that you could actually have a 45/70 on your shoulder and get it out in time to use it.

Of the arms listed, I would take the .500 Smith, for a handgun, I 'd prefer my Freedom Arms 83 in .500 Wyoming Express,, but I would much rather have a .375 or .416 rifle and a big helping of luck. I've seen black bear in Canada pop out a windshield of a pickup to get a sandwich on the dash, I can only imagine the power of a big,, or small,, grizzly.

Gotta love a bear story with a happy ending! I hope they let him keep the scrotum for a tobacco pouch.

I like how that author stressed the "clone" nature and legality of the firearm used.

10 gauge shotgun.

But according to parameters, I'd choose a .44 mag revolver
