For the poll we should also consider the new 40 round Pmags for the AR. That would give you 40 attempts at pissing off the bear.

This is absolutely the best video I have seen on the subject. You have to watch it through to the end.

Ok. 4:34 gone from my day....
....always wondered what folks did up North when they are inside so many months...not what I originally assumed!

I did like the makeshift 'body armor' !

Killing power on paper doesn't translate to what happens in the world. Here is an old link to some redneck bullet test. My brother and set up 3 bottles of water, 2 Powerade and 1 Tide, we shot from his AR a 62 gr fmj and the bullet did NOT penetrate past the 2nd Powerade bottle! Of the options I can handle a 44 mag enough to place a fatal shot.

My first thought would be, "How the heck did I end up in Montana?" I'd take the S&W 500. But my AR with several magazines would do the trick too.

How many shots do you think you going get off at a bear when you are with several magazines and your mighty 'bear killer' AR?

If we is talkin' bear, I say the bigger the better. Give me the X frame Smith. I will soak my bruised hands the NEXT day; at the moment I would be wishing they made a .600 caliber.

I chose an AR, but to be honest, I will not be hiking or whatever with an AR. The option was there, so I took it. I hunt with my favorite round, .308, so I would not have my AR on a hunt either. I would choose a 10 mm. Preferable in a 1911 though. Not a revolver guy, or Glock fan. Just my own personal preference.

AR-15, I am a better shot with a rifle.
