Default Average teen sends 3,339 texts per month

Average teen sends 3,339 texts per month - CNN.com

Quote:
The number of texts being sent is on the rise, especially among teenagers age 13 to 17. According to Nielsen, the average teenager now sends 3,339 texts per month.

There's more, though: teen females send an incredible 4,050 text per month, while teen males send an average of 2,539 texts. Teens are sending 8 percent more texts than they were this time last year.
I don't sent 3000 texts per year.

EDIT: CNN needs to learn how to read graphs. Data is per quarter, but that is still a **** ton of texts!

That is ridiculous! I'm 18 and only send out like 100 a month. This crap of over 2,000 texts is retarded!

How the hell did I get to be 73 years old without a cell phone? I am surprised that I survived my teenage years without one. Who would these brats be sending all those important messages to? I can’t figure it out.

Yes we know your old and grumpy. SO WHAT.

If you would have had the cell phones 'BACK IN THE DAY' like we do now it would have been the same way.

I don't text but I do IM at work and the conversations are similar.

That's 3 messages each in about a 2 minute time frame. No one said they were important messages.

Absolutely nothing, it just took me by surprise. I send less than 100 texts a month and I thought that was a lot.

Back in Day any kid had better have a damned good reason to be using the phone. None of the kids I grew up with and ran around with would ever dare to call me on the phone just to talk. They would have gotten a whack and so would I.

My kid probably falls in that bracket somewhere.
FaceBook, friend-texting, and keeping in contact with me and her dad 24/7...it's really the only reason I let her have any freedom at all and don't keep her locked up in the house in this exponentially sickening pervy world.
God bless text messaging.
