Bettendorf is right next door to us. I haven't seen anything in our local paper on this.

Just tragic.

I was wondering if anyone on here knows the name of the victim. The reason i want to know is one of my good friends was witness to this suicide and was actually the last person to speak to the victim. The victim was two or three lanes down from my friend, and she is having a difficult time dealing with this experience. I suggested to her that maybe if she contacted the family, passed her condolences along and expressed her sympathy it may help her. If anyone knows the name it would help on maybe identifying the family and in turn would help my friend. She is having a terrible time with it. I can sympathize with the victim, but i find it troubling that she was being treated for post traumatic stress disorder and in ending her life, put a group of people through a very traumatic event. But i know noone can explain what was going through her mind leading up to this tragedy. I registered for this site for this purpose. I am a novice when it comes to firearms and i support the right to bear them. But mainly i am just trying to help a friend. Thank you for any help you can give.

Yes, tragic for those who witnessed it as well as those of us who can only imagine. This woman was dear to many, and leaves her friends and family to mourn the woman we wish we could have back. Through her struggles we learned there are very few PTSD treatment facilities for women, and even fewer professionals equipped to handle - let alone treat - the demons.

Local media does not need to sensationalize this tragic loss. It's a hard enough situation to deal with for adults who knew her; our children do not need to see headlines like this.

Your friend who witnessed the incident needs professional counseling. Let's hope she can find help more easily than our Vets.
