Default Armorer

Has anyone on here ever been an armorer or know someone that has? I would like to know more about it from someone that has had any kind of experience with it because I think it would be a great job for me.

My brother was an LEO and the agency only had a Glock armorer, they seam brand specific because that was the carry weapon.

I am a trained Armorer in S&W revolvers, semi-auto pistols, Sig pistols and Colt AR-15/M-16. Just a small part of my job. LE agencies rarely have full time armorers at modern pistols do not require all that much attention. The larger agencies (NYPD) may have had full timers when they had 30,000 revolvers in service.

Military is a different story. Larger installations have armorers that work on guns regularly, but much of their job is not very demanding. It is tearing down worn guns and replacing parts.

Ideally I would start in the military but after that? Who knows what I will want to do I just wanted to see if anyone here is/was one and if they liked it.
