Default AR-15 at Obama Town Hall

AR-15 at Obama Town Hall

Glad to see people arent afraid to do this. I think its a great way to make a point to the liberal media as it obviously distrubes them. I just hope nothing happens to give the left-wing more fuel for the fire!

They are right!! If you don't exercise your rights, you loose them. If open carry is legal and no one carries in the open then folks get used to seeing regular folks without firearms. I can remember attending a training session in Arizona. I had been living in California for twenty years and drove my rental car from the hotel to a quick stop down the street to get a 6-pack. A guy in line to check out had a Semi-automatic pistol on his hip and caught me staring at it. He looked at me and said "You're from California, aren't you!" "Yes!" I said back, "We aren't used to seeing that where I live."

Nice AR in the photo. BUT.............this does NOT do the conservative cause any good. The leftists will parade this photo about as an example of how "crazy" the anti-Obama crowd is. MOST people in this country will probably react negatively to the photo and be willing to accept the Left's spin on this. It does not matter if the act was legal, or if the rifle in the photo is a "Sport Utility Rifle". Even the photo caption on the front page of Foxnews.com called it an "assault rifle".

I fail to see what positive message this person has contributed with his actions here.

I have to agree with you on this one TXnorton. One of the mantra's we had in the Marine Corps was to work smarter not harder, and in my opinion this is an example of making things harder.

I agree 100% with you on that sentiment. I just wonder why no one publishes a picture of Ted Kennedy with a drink in his hand? God bless the liberal media...

I'm of mixed minds on this subject.

No one was arrested, no laws were broken.

A right not exercised is not a right.

His timing may be questioned, unless he carries on a regular basis.

My bet is that this was the first time he open carried the AR in public and accomplished what he wanted to. His 15 minutes of fame.

I too am of mixed thoughts. I agree, if you don't use your rights you'll loose them but I question if this was the best way to exercise them.

That ugly cu^t Rachel Madow on MSNBC spent 30 minutes last night slandering gun owners because of this - they even had an ex-Secret Service Agent discussing the ramifications and possible solutions to a repeat of the event in the future.

I think it's great that some guys have the balls to go out there and exercise their rights. They're probably on some federal watch list now having their tax records and rectal exam history pored over.

I could care less how the MSM spins it. Gun legislation is a dead issue for liberals because it would fuel the fire and piss off their constituents. I don't think it'll help them dismiss the "right wing" opposition when it comes to health care and other socialist issues. Sane people understand that we're a nation of laws and no laws were broken that day.

Anyone notice THIS SPIN:

Quote:
Paul Helmke, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, said people should not be allowed to bring guns to events where Obama is.
"To me, this is craziness," he said. "When you bring a loaded gun, particularly a loaded assault rifle, to any political event, but particularly to one where the president is appearing, you're just making the situation dangerous for everyone."
I read the story, and I watched the video, and they did not say that the guy with the AR-15 was carrying it loaded. They said he had it strapped over his shoulder, and while it did have a magazine in it, there was no mention of the thing being loaded.

Now, onto the issue at hand. The guy was well dressed. He was articulate. From the looks of his build and his jaw line, he was probably a former military member.

I don't agree that was the best time to open carry, especially the ultra evil, black, SUR - But he wasn't a whack job and to everyone's surprise, he wasn't a white guy in a wife beater and camoflauge pants either.

I agree with his statement that more people need to exercise their rights, including open carry, but to bring that caliber of hardware to an event where the CIC is, probably not the best overall choice.

I understand. I even agree with what he is saying. I just don't think that was the best way to get the word out there.

I am SURE he had his own Presidential Detail Sniper team tracking him from the moment he came around the corner, and well, that is not necessarily a good thing.
