LORD yes!! I can't remember a time when Dolly wasn't on TV or in the movies.... One of my Daddy's favorite albums was "Coat of Many Colors".

Hey Stratrider... It could have been worse. When at my Grandparents they made me watch "The Lawrence Welk Show"... Now that was something NO ONE from my generation could like or relate to!!!

My Nana watched the Lawrence Welk show. I believe it was on Sunday nights.

Hee Haw was the lesser of the two evils imo.

Darn tootin!!!... The girls were definately hotter and the music was more current. ...and while I'm possitive the Welk crowd shot only golf... I'm pretty sure the Hee Haw cast shot guns... especially after poor Stringbean and his wife were murdered by white trash in their Nashville home !!

Hee Haw, 50 cent haircuts at the barber, glass bottled milk delivered to the door, postal mail delivered twice a day M-F, thirty-seven cents a gallon gas, twenty-five cent a pack smokes, coal furnace, two pieces of candy for a penny, not locking your door at night, ladies wearing beehive hairdos or straw sun hats with the price tag and string still attached. Fans blowing blocks of ice in the movie theater, several cartoons preceding the weekend double feature for a quarter...

Yep my fellow senior citizens, how times have a changed!

Dolly's looks aside, I think she and Patsy Cline have / had the best vocal chords I've ever heard.

I hated having to watch Lawrence Welk as a kid (at my grandparents also!) but appreciate the music today compared to rap and heavy metal. Was it the Lemon sister that were on the Welk show?

We only had three TV stations and this is what I had to look forward to shortly after the Welk show and news..

Yes they were. Just for the record their name was the Lennon Sisters.
