Default Anyone know about "Gun Tests"

I subscribed to this, and just got my 1st issue. They take no Ad sales at all and buy all tested guns and gear out of company monies. I'm very impressed, even though it's only 32 pages...guess I'm gonna pay for it now....and,..it's "3-hole" punched for saving issues in a binder if you want.

Sounds like a shooters version of "Consumer Reports" I've not heard of it yet but it bears investigation!

Im enjoying it! A Breath of fresh Air over the $10 mags with Glossy ads and "reviews" with "Hand Picked" guns by the companies for testing.

I had a subscription I should renew good publication for the money. And sometimes their results aren't what you expect. It is nice to know no one is paying for the review, but the consumer.

Personally, I'm waiting to be impressed.

Their "2013 Buying Guide" was exactly

32 pages, including the front and back cover.

They compared sixteen 12 Gauge shotguns,

3 snubnose 38s, 3 S&W 9mm semis, 3 single-shot

rifles, and they compared 7 types of .380 loads for SD.

That's it. The whole "Guide" No ARs, semi rifles, full size

revolvers, .45s,.40s, 22LR, etc. Hardly a comprehensive

reference.

I've subscribed, because I liked the overall concept, but if

they want my continued business, they are going to have to

crank it up a notch, because, IMHO, they are missing out on

testing entire segments of the market.

In all fairness to their staff, the reports they do provide are

from a shooters POV, and a good amount of functional and

ammo comparisons are used.

I have been subscribed for years. It is a good publication. It is not sponsored by any manufacturers, and does not print ads. Not even on the web site, which you all know is rare. They evaluate firearms as a team, and then vote, similar to Chuck Hawks. Their online archive goes back to 1998 and is accessible to subscribers. They also send me a check every time I recommend them... NO THEY DON'T A good value for $25/year.

I'll never forget seeing a saiga that the sons of guns guys modified. It was the only gun I have ever seen them give an F. I Lmfao and hung it on the wall in the shop next to a newspaper article where a Massachusetts state attorney was in court arguing that 18 year olds can legally purchase handguns. Lol
I have also allowed my subscription to lapse.
