Sorry, wasn't specifically at you. There have been others before. Just thought I'd throw my opinion out there. Just so happened to be after your post.

But I do have to disagree that you call it a lifestyle brand. How so? I'm not one of those people that own an ithis and an ithat. I specifically own an iPhone. I don't brag, or talk about, or even mention it to anyone. I use it for the reason I bought it. I like it. It doesn't affect my lifestyle.

Calm down. Whether or not a product has become a lifestyle brand, does not mean that applies to everyone who uses it. It is a general designation applied to products by marketers evaluating the customer base as a whole, not individuals.
Other lifestyle brands:
Red Bull Energy Drinks: Young, active, risk-taking men. I'm sure there are some old, fat guys who drink it as well.
Mercedes SLK: Upper middle class men with lots of disposable income. There are definitely some young women driving these around.
Get the idea?

When i pick a phone i want the one that is gonna give me the best performance for my $$, of course looks is part of that too. If the droid happens to be the best phone at the time and i like the way it looks i will get get that one, ive had droid and iphone and i cant truthfully tell a difference in performance, only the things that your able to do with each. Now i do not like the fact that apple limits you on what you can do and that you have to use itunes for everything, and i dont like the fact that you have to hook your iphone up to a computer when updates come up, alot of times im not around a wifi connection for a long time and its a big hassle. Ive been weighing my options and im still on the fence on if i want the iphone 5 or stick with droid.

Are you talking about the company's target market? That's completely different. I don't associate red bull with young active kids. I don't associate Mercedes with middle aged men.
So what is associated with apple products? I already listed my group of friends that use apple products. All completely different. Apples market is much broader than what people think. They are making an above quality product, looks and performance, available to all. Not specifically rich, not poor, not young, not old, not hip, not trendy.
So if you're saying red bull and mercedes do market their product toward specific people, then don't include apple in your stereotype.

http://www.thebrandspecialist.com/apple-creative-brand/
I am on my phone for the next few days so i can't search as easily as normal but just Google "lifestyle brand" and Apple will show up all over. Apple is branded as creative and modern and sleek, minimalist. It doesn't matter what product you are talking about. Buying their products is meant to make people feel like they are part of the club, it may not be why you bought an Iphone but selling that lifestyle has sold them millions of devices.

New iPhone will be here today. Gotta stop at the store and get me a beret and some new glasses and a sweater and a coffee. That's what I'm supposed to do right?

To steal a riff from Sigmund -- sometimes an iPhone is just an iPhone.

Assuming your lacking them, some piercings might be helpful.
Mac Products (below) very likely includes products with names starting with a lower case "i"

I see phones being like guns. You have people that love one and hate the other. You have pros and cons about each brand. If you like it then great and if someone dislikes that's their opinion.
