Most native persimmon do need a male and female for pollination. There is one type that will self pollinate. Some trees bought from nurseries have been grafted from this type of self pollinating so you won't need the male tree. Here in La. we have a native persimmon and it needs a male tree. These grow wild thru out the state. You should start seeing fruit in 7 to 8 years. Good luck......

It's looking like rain today, so I'm taking the day off from the garden and will catch up on some small tasks around the house.

Default When to plant............

The seeds I saved from the one cuke from last year made a load of eddible fruit or vegatable. I planted at the end of Feb. Now they are getting bitter because of the heat and lack of rain. I left one on the vine to seed for next year. Wish I had a camera to show you all. You'll just have to take me at my word. I've got a new Jalapena called Grande and they look like they will be big enough to stuff. My pole beans ain't doing diddley squat from lack of rain, what it is making is as sweet as honey. I can't wait till the fall........ My wife wanted cherry tomatoes planted on the patio. Is this patio tomatoes????????

Default Time in a bottle.......

Here it is July and I'm still picking cukes, the product of the seed from last year. I let one cuke grow too full size and will save the seed from this one. I'm hoping that the plants will some how will adapt to the heat and drought. They have all ready proven to be long lasting keepers. So after this next season and mother nature keeps me around I'll start giving these seeds away to FTF members who want to try thier luck. Seeds will come snail mail, and must be planted on a trelis......

I don't like being in pain while I'm eating. I can't eat anything hot.

Never saw this thread before....haha

I love tomato sandwiches, BLT's and pasta sauce......so I put in a small garden every year. It is small now, and I have cut it to only about 20x20. 3 rows of tomatoes, onions, beans, cukes, squash and eggplant, some lettuce. A few spices, basil and oregano, etc. Lost some to woodchucks and so I had to set a trapline and got 3 and it has been quiet since.

Can't wait for the tomatoes. BLT&B baby.............(the last B is for Beer of course....haha)
