Any Operation Ivy fans?
I was checking out my music archives on my computer and came across Op Ivy's stuff that I haven't listened to in a while. I had completely forgotten how much ass these guys kicked.

Having done a good bit of time dealing with nuclear weapons, I am a BIG fan of Operation Ivy. As for the band....not so much. The Circle Jerks owned that genre. "Patty's Killin' Mel", "Beat Me Senseless"... Come on now.

I am more of a 90's metal kind of guy(Pantera & such) but I do like my share of punk. Never was really into OI. I like the old stuff like Dead Kennedy's, Misfits, Suicidal etc.

Unfortunately, Ska is followed by supremacist groups. So, your accessment is correct, Ineff. I've long thought that most of those guys are bi, if not all out ghey to begin with. Oy is the same stuff with more "Heil" lines, imo.
Acid Bath ruled those days anyway. Dax Riggs is possibly the best voice eva. Check out Goatwhore for the current Riggs stuff, I believe.

Suicidal Tendancies was friggin' awesome in their day. Black Flag as well. I do believe the only Suicidal guy left on the current music scene is Trujillo. Is he not the latest bassist for Metallica? His Infectious Grooves days were classic, imo.

Yeah, real ska is, but a lot of the hardcore stuff is mostly punk, with the ska guitar and rhythms used. 3/4 of the guys from Op Ivy went on to become Rancid.
There were a lot of east bay bands in the late '80s and early '90s that used the techniques that were completely badassed. Being in northern Cali, I got to see a lot of those bands live. That time period really was the heyday of punk music. It had been refined and reworked from the early days but hadn't yet gone pop and been taken over by the emo bands.
