All the tracks have been dealing with this. Pay attention at CA next week, the last several years the attendance there has been horrible. I suspect it has more to do with the economy than the new pavement. Contrary to all the "good news" on the economy, lots of people are still hurting. Not a slam, but the demographic (Blue collar workers) that likes NASCAR is among the hardest hit. How many people, who used to be regulars, can't afford a NASCAR weekend these days? Without the broadcast money, NASCAR would be in trouble.

Has NOTHING to do with the reconfiguration. Bristol is the most expensive ticket on the circuit. Right up there with Feb Daytona.

Like MIS, went to MIS for years and years...when things were getting bad i tried to get them to work a deal with me, they wouldnt. So myself, like thousands of others, quit going. MIS response to sharply declining ticket sale?? RAISE PRICES!! BRILLIANT!!!

A couple of friends once went to both races every year....it s been decreased to once....and they may not even go this year.

The way we all look at it, why spend a $1000+ for weekend when the best view is from my recliner, the coldest beer is in my fridge and your not paying $180 for a camp sight, $7 a beer, $4 a gal, getting 10 mph, to drag a camper to said campsight.

Yeah, it wasn't as packed as I thought it would be. I had never been before, but my friend who invited me said there are usually a lot more people there. And yeah, the tickets were very expensive...I would not have spent that much on any ticket personally. It was fun though. (And about the only place a girl can wear her camouflage boots in the rain and completely fit in with everyone else.)
